अल्लाह ताला क़ुरआन में फरमाता है: “तुम्मे जो लोग मुजर्रद (बिना जोड़े के) हों और अपने नेक बख्त गुलामों और लौंडियों का निकाह कर दिया करो अगर ये लोग मोहताज होंगे तो खुदा अपने फज़ल व (करम) से उन्हें मालदार बना देगा और ख़ुदा तो बड़ी गुन्जाइश वाला वाक़िफ कार है” (क़ुरआन २४:३२)

हजरत अब्दुल्लाह इब्ने मसऊद रज़ि से रिवायत है कि रसूलल्लाह सल्ल. ने हमसे फ़रमाया: ऐ नौजवानो की जमाअत ! तुम में से जो निकाह करने की माली हैसियत रखता हो उसे निकाह करना चाहिए क्योंकि निकाह नज़र को झुकाने वाला और शर्मगाह को महफूज़ रखने वाला अमल है और जो कोई माली हैसियत न रखता हो, वो रोज़ा रखे क्योंकि रोज़ा ढाल है (यानी रोज़ा नफ़्स की ख्वाहिशों को कुचल देता है।) सहीह बुखारी अलहम्दुलिल्लाह
